51 York Street has a varied past and was built in 1978 as the Adult Education Centre. Over the years, many Launceston locals have visited the building, participating in a wide range of courses from crocheting to obtaining a boat license – so you very well may be familiar with the past inner-workings of the building! CBM Sustainability Group purchased the building in 2017 in original condition as a typical example of its 1970’s era – defined by lots of brown brick and bright green carpet (a 70s hallmark!). Extensive work has been undertaken to update and modernise the building to provide access to views and natural light. The upper floor is now made up of open-plan workstations, breakout work spaces, and new amenities to provide a workspace relevant for today, while the lower floor is a buzzing health studio operated by method + action.

CBM Sustainability Group is a group of companies which together provide professional services for development projects in a number of industry sectors. CBM Group functions as the initiator and facilitator of innovative and sustainable development projects in the property, mineral resource, renewable energy and agri-business sectors and packages them to provide a strong return on investment (ROI) and a clear focus on sustainability.
