Designed by renowned Tasmanian architect Ray Heffernan, the block was built in 1964 and developed at a time when Hobart Lord Mayor John Soundy was championing higher density city living. At only 37 square metres, the north-facing apartment showcases the principles of good design that can improve human experience, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that keep the apartment warm in winter and cool in summer. The last in the block in original condition and decorated in midcentury style, this apartment is a timely and interesting example of well-designed, high-density housing at  time when major cities are experiencing a housing crisis.

Address: 6/6 Alt-Na-Craig Avenue, New Town
